The Birth of Evie

Just days after documenting my first ever birth, I got another early morning wake-up call! This mama had been dilated for a few weeks, and I had been anxiously waiting and wondering when her baby would make his or her appearance. Finally the phone call came and I was off to Woman’s Hospital for Lauren’s unmedicated, natural birth.

I loved the energy in this room! Lauren is a Mother/Baby nurse at Woman’s Hospital and her sister is an RN in Labor and Delivery. As you can imagine, there was a constant flow of visitors throughout the morning. Contractions weren’t very strong or consistent initially but after a little intervention, things started really ramping up.

Even as labor intensified, Lauren remained completely focused. Everyone was so attentive to her needs and her husband, Michael, knew exactly where to be and what to say to help her through each contraction.

Did I mention it was a surprise gender? The whole room squealed with excitement when we found out her little boy was now a big brother to a little SISTER!

And then there were four! Thank you, Lauren, for trusting me to capture these for you!
